On February 4, 2013, FBI officials rescued then-5-year-old Ethan from an underground bunker in Alabama, where he had been held hostage for nearly one week by 65-year-old Jimmy Lee Dykes, who was killed during the raid. Investigators say Dykes stormed a school bus carrying 21 children a week earlier, shot and killed the driver and then abducted Ethan.
Ethan is now safe at home, but the challenges that lie ahead for him are yet to be determined. A Conservatorship Account has been set up for Ethan, which will be administered by an attorney ad litem, an officer of the court. All contributions will be used on behalf of Ethan to help him move forward in his life, including treatment and education costs.
The Dr. Phil Foundation is making a contribution to a Conservatorship Account, which will benefit Ethan in the future. If you'd like to join us, click here.
