Music to Her Ears!

Sixteen-year-old Brandi was always passionate about singing and playing the piano, but as a teen growing up in the inner city, she didn't have access to the proper equipment or support. To keep her dreams alive, she began playing the piano in her church and teaching music to the younger kids.

Brandi describes the need for music programs at her school.

Brandi appeared on the episode "The Dr. Phil Foundation: Helping Kids," where she was introduced to Fred, founder and president of Urban Entertainment Institute (UEI), an after-school arts program. Fred surprised the teen by accepting her into UEI. But the surprises didn't stop there! M-Audio presented Brandi with her own recording studio, complete with keyboards and computer software, so that she could make her own demos. Dr. Phil continued to hit the right note by making a donation to Fred and UEI on behalf of The Dr. Phil Foundation.
