Following Hurricane Katrina, Raintree Children and Family Services of New Orleans sustained extensive structural and exterior damage. The once beautifully lanscaped yard area that children enjoyed was greatly damaged and in need of major TLC. There were also many programming and staff changes, and it seemed as if the organization was starting a new agency. The Dr. Phil Foundation stepped in and donated toward repairing the structure.
"We have used the funds to work on various projects covering the buildings and grounds," reports LaShawna Schofield, executive director. "Fortunately, your funding helped us to clear out damaged/overgrown areas and restore it to its beautiful state. The children love going outdoors now after school." They also replaced ripped window screens and removed weakened tree limbs. Raintree was also able to install a new air conditioning and heating unit in the therapist's office, allowing for a more comfortable climate for the girls and therapists. "We have been able to complete a number of tasks that otherwise whould have had to wait."
